A Federal parliamentary committee is currently examining major changes to Commonwealth fi****ms import laws - and doing so without hearing from fi****ms experts, industry or peak shooting bodies.

That’s concerning.

But it’s important to be clear:
- This is a federal process, not Victorian law
- Victoria’s licensing system is governed by state legislation
- SSAA Victoria is actively engaged with the Victorian Government to ensure a sensible, fair and evidence-based review, not knee-jerk reactions

The Ken Lay AO APM review shows that Victoria understands fi****ms policy requires expertise and proper consultation.
