🌹CLASSIC vs REFLEXED swipe to see ➡️
The same rose can create a completely different look depending on how it’s prepared and designed.
A naturally opened rose has that soft, traditional garden feel. It works beautifully in classic and garden-style designs where roses are combined with a variety of other flowers, foliage and textures.
A reflexed rose creates a much more luxurious and contemporary look. By carefully turning back each individual petal, the rose appears larger, more sculptural and completely transforms in shape.
Reflexed roses are particularly beautiful for:
• Modern, massed floral designs and flower groupings
• Single-flower bridal bouquets
• Minimalist weddings
• Bud vase styling
• Sculptural and architectural floral designs
But reflexing isn’t simply a matter of folding the petals back.
Each petal is carefully manipulated by hand, and the rose needs to be at exactly the right stage of maturity. Too fresh and tight, and the petals can tear or split. Too mature, and you compromise the appearance and vase life of the flower.
Knowing when a flower is at its optimum stage and how it will respond to handling, temperature, season and its environment is part of the technical knowledge behind professional floristry.
As a professionally trained, qualified florist, understanding flower conditioning, development and vase life is just as important as the finished design you see.
