Well it’s been quite a minute since we’ve had a however the boys have had a cracker of a start to 2024. Whilst the King Gar Run has been nothing short of spectacular ordinary for this time of year the lads have had plenty of fun with the less than desirable Barramoonda and Jackos in the shallows. Stocking the freezer and keeping the ministers of war and finance happy gives the lads a chance of continuing their run for fishing glory of landing that elusive meter KG. Tight lines to all of our followers and a big thanks to Knighty's Fishing Adventures for the daily updates on how our local systems are fishing. Happy Easter ya dogs 🐰

The start of Barra season has finally come and here is snaggy stram with the first Barra of the season. Great work mate keep up the good work.

Happy Tuesday Team,

Coming to you this afternoon with a few hot tips for young players when targeting big King Gar and Dog Tooth in the upcoming season. Uncle Noz has a key takeaway message which largely concerns the use of scent gel. When questioned, Uncle Noz said “Make sure when targeting King Gar that you’re choosing a scent to throw on your lure that consists mainly of sweet notes. Honey or maple syrup work the best.” Meanwhile, Snaggy Stram’s comments on Dog tooth revolved around the structure you want to fish them in. “Most of your Dog Tooth will be schooled up on the sandbanks hanging out with your Flathead and Mullet, make sure you cast your lure high in the air to simulate an aerial bombardment of bait as that fires the Dogs up!”.

Well it surely has been a minute since the team have jumped on for an update. The boys were working that hard on providing quality content for our loyal followers and sponsors that they forgot to take a breather and starting getting all clogged up. Alas, a breather has been taken and the lads are firing back up with a recent trip out off the Lower Burdekin Shipping Channel fishing for quality Mangrove John’s in 80 metres. Chasebaits Australia 25m Flickies doing the damage. It will be truly interesting to see how well these lures do once the King Gar Run kicks off mid December. With the King Gar season back open and in full flight - the team headed south to a few locally known “Gar Holes” in an attempt to get on the board. Whilst the bigger models were scarce, this excellent by-catch pleasantly surprised the team as these species are extremely rare for our region. If you are heading out in the estuaries for Gar the main tip from Uncle Noz is “make sure you cast your lure as high in the sky to mimic an aerial bombing as it fires the KG’s up. Whilst Snaggy’s main tip for offshore KG’s is “find the dogtooth off pallarenda shelf and the KG’s will be schooled up with the tuna.”

After a well deserved hiatus over the Christmas break - the boys opened up the year with a trip down south to chase some giants. After approximately 800mm of rain and many arguments about whether the trip was worth it, the team finally managed a total of 24 fish with 6 over the magic metre mark. It was a trip that will be remembered for years to come. Zerek Australia Flat Shad and Z-Man Lures Australia Frogs doing the damage for the most part.
Looking forward to a big year of content and watch this space as the King Gar season is not too far from opening again and you know the boys will be getting stuck into it faster than a one-armed bricklayer in Baghdad.

Good morning Team,
We are going to see a reduction in King Gar bites for some time due to the Barra season closing. However this just means the boys must change their tactics in targeting likely food sources for the KG’s. These Red Dogs (or if you’re fancy Mangrove Jack) are the ideal sporting fish to target for fun but also if your keen to still try land an elusive eightery King Gar.

Sometimes you have to go through a couple hundred of these pests before you hook the King Gar. However, we are still passionate about fish conservation and the appropriate handling of all marine life. This little Mundy was released perfectly to go back and join his mates.

Whilst the Marlin weren’t firing as much as we hoped in the creeks it was another successful day out testing some new exciting gear coming soon to retailers. Both athletes managed a few nice by-catch with Snaggy Stram unfortunately pulling hooks on what would have been a PB King Gar however that’s fishing folks.
