FESTIVAL OF STORIES — THE MAIN EVENTS KICK OFF TONIGHT!

Townsville’s Festival of Stories has been running throughout Children’s Book Week, but tonight the main festival program gets underway at Citylibraries Aitkenvale with Victor Steffensen, followed by a HUGE day of author conversations, panels, signings and more tomorrow.

And what a line-up coming to Townsville! 😍

Sofie Laguna, Gabbie Stroud, Michael Robotham, Tim Ayliffe, Hayley Scrivenor, Gary Lonesborough and more.

We’re so excited to be there as the festival booksellers again this year, with stacks of books from the visiting authors ready to purchase and have signed after their sessions. 📚✍️

It’s pretty special to have this calibre of Australian writers right here in Townsville — and it’s all FREE to attend!

Come along tonight, make a day of it tomorrow, and please come and say hello to us at the bookstall. 🧡

A lovely little stack to start the week....

Our Top Ten has a bit of everything this week — some wonderful new releases, books that have been steadily finding their way into your hands, and some much-loved staff and book club favourites still going strong.

A special mention to Elizabeth Tynan, taking out both top spots after the Townsville launch of Nuclear Archipelago at JCU last week, where we were very happy to be there as booksellers. Meticulously researched, Nuclear Archipelago uncovers the extraordinary and confronting history of British atomic testing on Western Australia’s Montebello Islands — a fascinating piece of Australian history that deserves to be much better known.

Lots of really good reading heading out the door this week, and plenty in this stack that we’re very happy to see getting some love.

Our hearts are very full after such a beautiful Book Week celebration🧡

There’s something pretty special about spending the day surrounded by our littlest readers and their families, celebrating stories together.

A huge thank you to our wonderful local authors who gave their time, shared their stories and had the kids completely engaged — listening, laughing, asking questions and joining in. That’s what it’s all about.

There was so much joy in the shop today, and days like this are a lovely reminder of why we do what we do as an indie bookshop.

Thank you to every family who came along and made the day so special. What a gorgeous little community of readers we have 🧡

We’re getting very excited for our Book Week celebration this Sunday, and we’ve got some amazing local children’s authors joining us throughout the day! 🧡

Here is this week's Top 10🧡

There are some weeks when the Top 10 is just a really satisfying pile of books — and this is one of them.

Billie King has made it all the way to number one — it’s been a big favourite with our staff and we loved it enough to make it our latest Book Club pick.

A huge congratulations to Omar Musa on his Miles Franklin win — such a deserving one. We’re so glad to see the award encouraging more people to pick up Fierceland and give it a read.

The Odyssey is still having its moment too, with the film inspiring plenty of people to pick up Homer for themselves.

Lots of new fiction in the mix this week, alongside some familiar favourites — we love seeing our Staff Fav tags on the shelves doing their job and helping great books find their next reader.
