Every Sunday (March–January), 9am–2pm on the foreshore at Horseshoe Bay. The market season runs from last Sunday in March through to the second last Sunday in January. All stall holders, musicians, buskers and/or other market participants are bound to these guidelines under MICDA’s Operational Agreement

with Townsville City Council. Please ensure that you have returned a signed application form, Covid 19 agreement, member of MICDA and paid deposit slip or screenshot of payment/payments. Coordinator: Denise Dexter

Meet Rhesa, the incredibly lovely, warm, and friendly face behind Lids and Lines! ✨
Her market journey dates back to 90s Sydney, and after traveling Australia in her van, she brought her stall to the Magnetic Island Markets, growing it since March 2025 into the ultimate beach day treasure trove.
Today, she sells her biggest variety yet, combining practical seaside essentials like sunnies, snorkel masks, and second-hand clothes with her own gorgeous craftsmanship, including hand-sewn bottle bags and macrame bikini tops.
Her absolute favorites are her beachcomber hats, which she uniquely transforms by hand braiding colorful macrame yarn into the bands and adorning them with beads and beach-combed treasures.
Having done markets nationwide, Rhesa names the relaxed vibe, the supportive coordinator, and the wonderful friendliness of the fellow marketeers and punters here as her absolute number one pick! 🌴🐚

Karen Fardouly sailed to Magnetic Island five years ago, and it stole her heart straight away.
She returned two years later during COVID, and the island became a peaceful safe haven for her while living in her campervan.
She initially set up a market stall selling crocheted bags made from recycled materials, before venturing into recycled clothing. Now, her stall has grown to become more like a mini department store!
Karen’s journey in fashion started at an early age. She was always sewing, which led her to study dress design and fashion at the East Sydney School of Technology for three years. After working as a designer, she moved into retail, working with Grace Brothers, David Jones, and Cue (where she supervised six shops for eight years!).
When retail eventually wore her out, she started going to yoga on her days off and was instantly hooked. She studied the practice and ended up running her own yoga business (ouryoga) for over 20 years in the Drummoyne and Balmain areas.
After a difficult season of family loss, Karen pulled up stumps and started travelling as a healing process, which brought her to her new beginnings on Maggie. She feels this return to fashion and recycled clothing is her true passion. Her ultimate goal is to keep as much clothing in circulation and out of landfill as possible.
Karen loves that her customers embrace the idea of buying preloved, and she is so thankful to each and every one of you for helping to save the planet, one garment at a time! 🙏🌎

Treat the kids to yummy food, shop beautiful local gifts and kids apparel, and keep your eyes peeled, you might even spot a mermaid or a pirate! 🧜‍♀️🏴‍☠️
Best of all, the beach is right there. The kids can jump in for a swim while Mum and Dad do some shopping. It’s the ultimate island holiday vibe. 🌴

Originally from the southeast of England, Sharron Whiting first arrived in Australia in 1998, landing in Brisbane. Over the years, life drew her further and further up the beautiful Queensland coast, living just north of Brisbane and later settling just outside of Bundaberg. But it was a simple one week holiday to Magnetic Island that changed everything, she absolutely fell in love with the island’s magic and decided to call it home.
Known all around the island for her incredible personal style and love of fashion, Sharron is now living out that passion at the markets. Her beautiful stall features a curated collection of barefoot shoes, waterproof jewelry, and stunning handcrafted bags that perfectly suit the relaxed, gorgeous island lifestyle.
There is a beautiful story of empowerment behind her stunning bags, which are woven by women in villages across Madagascar. Learning this traditional art form from a very young age, these artisans use their incredible craftsmanship to directly support their families and communities.
While Sharron sometimes wishes she had studied fashion earlier in life, she is fully embracing it now. For her, the market is about so much more than business, she brings an infectious energy and genuine happiness to everyone she meets. She simply loves connecting with locals and visitors from all over Australia and the world, all while soaking up the absolute best market outlook on the island.
