Resource Recovery MidCoast is part of Resource Recovery Australia, a national social enterprise that works in waste management to:
- keep waste out of landfill,
- create jobs for people experiencing barriers to work, and
- to engage and connect people in our communities. We operate reuse shops, transfer stations, weighbridges, landfills, community recycling centres, a container deposit refund facility, mattress deconstruction, expanded polystyrene processing, non-ferrous metal recycling, and community spaces and workshops in the MidCoast region. Resource Recovery Australia operates other sites across NSW, QLD and the ACT, in seven regions. We operate across Tea Gardens, Bulahdelah, Stroud and Tuncurry on the MidCoast.

πŸ”Ž Reviva Reuse Shop Mystery Item of the Week

Last week's mystery item sparked a bit of debate πŸ‘€

Many of you guessed it was a vintage bed warmer, used with hot coals and slipped between the sheets on a cold night.

However, several of our followers had a different theory, suggesting it was actually a vintage silent butler (or crumb catcher) that was missing its brush.

After doing a little more research, we're inclined to agree! The shorter handle suggests it was most likely a silent butler from the 1950s, used to sweep up crumbs and ash from tables and fireplaces.

A big thank you to everyone who shared their knowledge and joined the discussion. We love seeing these mysteries solved together! πŸ‘

Now for this week's mystery...

This one appears to be from a much more modern era πŸ€”

Do you know what it is? What was it used for? And does anyone still use one today?

Tag a friend who might know the answer and help us solve the mystery! πŸ•΅οΈ

πŸ”Ž Reviva Reuse Shop Mystery Item of the Week

Last week's mystery item turned out to be a battery terminal cleaner, and judging by the comments, quite a few of you still have one floating around in your toolbox at home! πŸ‘

This week, Mitch from our Reviva Noosa team has brought us another mystery item... and we're completely stumped πŸ€”

It's pretty clear this one belongs in the kitchen, but we're not quite sure what it would have been used for.

Have you ever seen one before?

What is it? What was it used for? And does anyone still use one today?

Bonus points if you've actually used one πŸ‘€

Tag a friend who might know the answer and help us solve the mystery! πŸ•΅οΈ

And while you're here... should Mitch keep the beard? πŸ˜†

πŸ”Ž Reviva Reuse Shop Mystery Item of the Week

Last week's mystery item was identified as a mitre saw, a specialised tool used to make quick, accurate crosscuts and angled cuts.

Our handy followers worked that one out pretty quickly! πŸ‘

This week's mystery item, however, has us completely perplexed πŸ€”

Have you ever seen this before?

What do you think it is? What was it used for? And does anyone know how it works?

Tag a friend who might be able to help us solve the mystery and drop your guesses in the comments below ⬇️

πŸ”Ž Reviva Reuse Shop Mystery Item of the Week

Last week's mystery item had quite a few of you scratching your heads πŸ‘€

Thanks to our community of Reviva super sleuths, we were able to identify it as a vintage Wi******er Hand Reloading Tool used to reload ammunition.

Who would have guessed! 🀯

This week's mystery item is a little less lethal... and not quite as old πŸ˜„

What on earth could this be? πŸ€”

What do you think it was used for? Have you ever used one before?

Bonus points if you can tell us how it works πŸ‘€

🎨 Kate doesn't just see old furniture β€” she sees a blank canvas.

This dresser started life as a simple second-hand piece from Reviva. With talent, imagination and a lot of hard work, Kate transformed it into a stunning work of art. ✨

Proof that sometimes the most ordinary items have the most extraordinary potential. πŸ’šβ™»οΈ
Thanks for sharing your incredible creation, Kate!

🌟 "Kate saw potential where others might have seen landfill..."

Kate picked up this chair from her Reviva Reuse Shop and gave it a whole new life. ✨
What was once tired and worn is now a stunning statement piece thanks to a little creativity and care.

This is exactly why we love reuse. πŸ’šβ™»οΈ
