Happy Equinox ☀️

Some of you have likely been feeling the energies of the equinox coming through already. Invitations and initiations for things that are shifting or about to shift as the sun crosses into the Southern Hemisphere we too cross a threshold.

The equinox brings balance, equality, expansion and illumination. Energetically and consciously we become more receptive and willing to let go of things, to leave things behind and to step up and into new beginnings, upgrades and timelines.

The spring equinox is a portal - A portal to activate, embody, meet potentials and to experience life’s vitality. Go ahead, close you eyes, take a deep breath in, visualise the sun and tell me you can’t feel these things…

Equinoxes are powerful and functional so it is Important to remember to anchor in during influxes of energies that are coming to meet you. Be aware of where you are and where you are ready to take step or leap. Offer gratitudes and direct intention into the shifts in energies, magnetic realignments, planetary codes and grids… they are all upgrading and renewing.

Take rest as you need it, play mindful music, cleanse your body with salt and your home with smudge & don’t forget to sit with cacao.

As I prepare myself for a 28 day Cacao dieta that begins tomorrow, I am taking the time today to sit in enquiry, invitation and intention.

Knowing that the journey will only go as far as my commitment to self, I love to ask some questions that I can not only work through beforehand but also to reflect back on after the 28 day cycle.

Ceremonial Cacao is more than a drink, more than something we consume… it is something we enter into relationship with.

Ceremonial Cacao holds tradition yet opens the way for modern practices to remind us, with every cup, that it is time to slow down and reconnect. Cacao fills us with love and nourishment throughout many parts of our bodies and naturally finds the areas that need replenishing, energy and healing.

A beautiful message from the Andes this morning:

It is that of Sacred Reciprocity… Known as Ayni.
‘I give as I have already received
I honour because I’ve always belonged
I make offerings because relationship is reciprocal’

Thousands of offerings are made to Pachamama across the Andes throughout the month of August every year. Each with deep love, honour, appreciation and intention for the year ahead. What I love about hearing some of these intentions over time is that not only are they incredibly beautiful, but they always whisper prayers and blessings for others.
‘For my brothers and sisters’, ‘for my family and my community’, ‘for my herd and theirs’, ‘for my country and all other countries’ ‘for Pachamama and the cosmos’….

The Western world can take so much inspiration from this way of being (….of returning). For every prayer and intention that we hold for ourselves, let’s also hold it for others 💗

I didn’t fall in love with ceremonial cacao because someone explained it to me, I fell in love with her because of how she made me feel.

Sipping my first cup in 2011, I couldn’t have told you about Theobromine, blood flow, stress responses-or even anything about the nervous system beyond knowing the terms fight/flight + rest/digest.

I had never heard anyone explain how chronic stress affects the brain or why it becomes harder to think clearly, create healthy thought forms, to make decisions or that it was even affecting how I digest my food, my gut health, or my biology.

But my body knew because I’d been living it, experiencing it, I just didn’t have the words for it yet. I was waking up feeling exhausted, forgetting words and sometimes making words up, feeling unmotivated, consumed by work, irritability at an all time high and quick wit at the ready.

I was wearing stress like a girl guide badge and the busier I was the more productive I was. The more productive I was the more I was rewarded and all of that served its purpose and felt like success until it didn’t.

‘I don’t feel like myself anymore, I don’t even think I know who I am’ the sentence that many women whisper internally arrived to show me that what I was striving for, what I was trying to achieve, who I was trying to be was all external.

It was a new chapter on my healing journey and Cacao was there to meet me, hold me, support me and repair (return) me in ways I hadn’t even thought of.

A gentle invitation to soften, to let things go, to remove labels that had taken a lifetime to create and to remember who I was beneath it all.

Looking back, I realise cacao didn’t begin my healing journey but she was there for some of the most memorable moments.
