Lopi fireboxes use refractory fire bricks of the same grade found in commercial boilers, so they do not wear out through normal use. The quickest way to choose a British Fire is to compare the fuel beds side by side.

Signature is where the range starts. Ceramic Signature Logs with charred detail, crystal and slate base, mirrored rear glass. A good option when budget is the deciding factor.

Deluxe is the Australian standard: genuine English oak, scorched and charred by hand. It is the single biggest reason people choose British Fires over anything else in the category, and it is not an upgrade here, it comes as standard.

Black Edition is the top of the range. Deluxe Real Logs, Dark Rear Glass behind and Schott anti-reflective glass in front. Worth considering for any room with big windows or a lot of natural light, because the drop in glare is immediately obvious.

The nights are still cold, but building a fire from scratch can feel like too much effort some evenings.

GreenStart push-button ignition blows 760°C preheated air into the firebox and has kindling alight in under a minute. No newspaper, no matches.

You still lay the kindling or a few small split pieces, GreenStart does the lighting. It will not take hold under a couple of big logs. It is also excellent for reviving a bed of coals after a fire has burned down.

Open the door on a burning fire and you know the risk, a puff of smoke rolling into the room.

The bypass feature on the Lopi Evergreen, Endeavor, Rockport and Liberty redirects the airflow when you start or reload, so the smoke goes up the flue instead of into your living room.

The lighting benefit is the one worth demonstrating. Bypass sends the draught straight up the flue so that first length heats quickly, the fire establishes faster from cold and starts drawing properly sooner. It makes the most difference on the larger fireboxes.
