In today’s news, I got a highly commended for one of my entries in the Tursa art prize at Lismore Show … and … my pickles won first, both of which were quite unexpected and made me stupidly happy 😁 to be in there with so many incredibly talented people is quite something 🥰

All up we had a great day (despite the rain). The chooks were a definite highlight even if they scare me a bit 🐓🐓 and of course there were some beautiful and very impressive displays in the fine arts pavilion from all kinds of crafters and growers. The school displays were fabulous!

So I put my big girl pants on, tried to stop overthinking it, and delivered my entries for the Tursa art prize which is held during Lismore Show which is on Th/Fr/Sat this week. This is a first for me and I found it a tad stressful just because, you know, other people’s opinions 😱

In another first I also entered my favourite bread and butter pickles in ‘Cookery 6223 Any other vegetable or pickle’ 🥒😁

(The feather dropped as I was getting into the car which I am taking as a positive)

A very quiet night tonight so I thought I’d do a bit of stitching. Grabbed the sewing kit but it would’ve helped a lot if I’d brought thread with me 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Vintage wallpaper, my own ink splotches (loving the liquid watercolours), sari silk and whatever else I find. Definitely a work in progress!

I’ve been too-ing and fro-ing on this one for a while but it’s starting to take shape and once that happens it’s often a pretty quick dash to the finish 🐟🐠🐓 A rainy day inside helps too 🌧️

Big shoutouts and huzzah to for being fabulous people 🥰 I had to change my mail address and South Lismore was the obvious choice. Tracy, who is an absolute legend, organised everything for me and made it incredibly easy, not to mention it being an actual fun job going to collect the mail (and quite possibly being a more frequent visitor at the plant nursery next door 🍃 )

(Ps if you didn’t know, Lismore Heights PO is closing early October 😔)

I *was* looking for a pic of that time I met Ewan Macgregor but found this little time capsule from the 70s instead. I particularly remember the castle cake because I think mum made it for a birthday back in the day 🤷‍♀️ my parents were very crafty not because they necessarily were but more because they used what they had in a very inventive way. The use reuse and recycle ethic was strong!!

There’s a couple of things in this collection of mums that I remember clearly and want to make them again (and of course that pic with Ewan) 🥰

There are literally hundreds of sashiko thread colours I could choose from but yup, I decided to dye some more of my own. Deeply satisfying 🥰

I did these with a kit from BeBe Bold and the possibilities are endless! I think I’ll probably use these on the next round of tea towels.

I should also say I do work at BeBe Bold which can be very umm tempting! You should visit if you love quilting, stitching, or generally using beautiful materials in your craft.

Still on a mission to use the stash! This week it’s all about origami paper. These will soon be Christmas decorations 🎄 The mystery is ‘what will the stash produce next week’ 🤷‍♀️
