You may have noticed we've been a little quiet over here lately. Behind the scenes, I've been navigating some significant health challenges, and unfortunately, the decision about my current future in floristry has been taken out of my hands.
While I've kept it very quiet, I have actually lived with severe hip issues for a long time, including major surgeries in my 20s. My pelvis and hips are currently held together with pins and plates, but at 35, those past surgeries have now failed, leaving me with severe pain, bone-on-bone arthritis and structural damage.
I’ll now be undergoing major hip replacement and reconstruction surgery, followed by a long rehabilitation. Because floristry is so physical, I have no choice but to press pause for the foreseeable future.
As much as I would love to continue pushing through, the time has come where it is too painful and I’m simply worn out. I’ve unfortunately learnt you can’t keep pushing a joint that has failed, and I’ve been told by medical advice that I simply can’t keep pushing through.
For now, my focus is on getting through surgery, recovering well, and being the best mum I can be to my beautiful two year old son.
I’m incredibly proud of what this little business has become. It has been an absolute privilege to create flowers for this community, and your support over the years has meant the world to me.
Right now, I'm simply hitting the pause button while I focus entirely on my health and recovery, and I'll see what the future holds when I'm on the other side. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for your kindness. Caitlin 💕
