Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there.
The men who taught us some of life’s most important lessons.
Measure twice, cut once.
Never throw away a piece of timber.
You can never have too many tools.
And spending $600 on brewing equipment to save $2 a carton is absolutely sound financial planning.
Dads will spend three weeks perfecting a beer recipe, give you a 20 minute explanation about fermentation temperatures, then hand you a glass and stare at you until you say it’s good.
And God help anyone who opens the fermenter because they “just wanted to have a look.”
But some of the best memories with Dad aren’t the big ones.
They’re standing in the shed while he stuffs around with something.
Holding the torch completely wrong while he tells you where to point it.
Listening to the same stories you’ve heard 47 times.
Having a beer together when you’re finally old enough.
And eventually realising you actually like hearing those stories again.
Because somewhere along the way, Dad stops just being Dad.
He becomes your mate.
So today, raise a glass to the dads, stepdads, grandads and father figures who taught us things, made us laugh and were always there when it mattered.
And for the dads who aren’t here to have a beer with us anymore, maybe pour their favourite today.
Sit down.
Tell one of their old stories.
And raise the first glass to them.
Happy Father’s Day from everyone at Homebrewworks.
