A little update from The Upcyclery…

Many of you know that Steve is the hands behind so much of what we create here at The Upcyclery, so we wanted to let you know why things might be a little quieter for a while.

Last week Steve had a serious accident while working. He severed five tendons in his right hand and underwent microsurgery to repair the damage. The next few months are going to be all about healing, rehabilitation and doing everything we can to give him the best possible chance of regaining full movement.

Because of this, we’ll unfortunately have to cancel a few upcoming markets and, for the time being, we won’t be taking on any custom orders. It’s not a decision we wanted to make, but right now his recovery has to come first.

The good news is that we still have plenty of beautiful pieces already made, so we’ll continue listing and selling those as normal. Every purchase during this time means the world to our little business, and we can’t thank you enough for your support.

We’re hoping this is just a temporary pause and that, with a lot of patience and plenty of physio, Steve will be back creating again before too long.

Pop in and have a browse in Lyndoch Bell Book & Candle! It's a gorgeous little shop with so many lovely things :D

Our new playing cards are perfect to spice up game nights! The glitter is beautiful and doesn’t rub off so it’s not annoying and messy. Perfect to keep family entertained while inside during this cold weather.

These will be coming with every order and will be on the table at all our markets. If you see us out and about, grab one and say hello!

Every card has a QR code taking you straight to our website, where you can browse our latest creations and find out where we’ll be next.

Now… we just need to make enough jewellery to go with them! 😆

Spent some time making upcycled copper wire bracelets today. I’ve made bracelets like these before, but this was my first time adding the wire wrapping. I think it turned out pretty good! What do you think ?

Card holders! Always one of our best sellers at family markets. These have just had their buttons added and are drying after Fray Check was applied to keep them safe and strong. Next job is snipping all the ends off!

One of the best parts of making these is hunting for beautiful fabrics.

Many come from charity shops, donated fabric, vintage scraps or remnants that would otherwise go unused.

Every pattern has its own little story before it even becomes a card holder.

💚 The Secret Glow of Uranium Glass 💚

At first glance, uranium glass looks like ordinary green or yellow glass.

But shine a UV light on it and something magical happens... it glows a brilliant fluorescent green! ✨

Uranium glass has been captivating collectors for nearly 200 years. Small amounts of uranium were added during the glassmaking process to create its distinctive colour, and it became particularly popular during the Victorian era and throughout the early 20th century.
