A little update from The Upcyclery…

Many of you know that Steve is the hands behind so much of what we create here at The Upcyclery, so we wanted to let you know why things might be a little quieter for a while.

Last week Steve had a serious accident while working. He severed five tendons in his right hand and underwent microsurgery to repair the damage. The next few months are going to be all about healing, rehabilitation and doing everything we can to give him the best possible chance of regaining full movement.

Because of this, we’ll unfortunately have to cancel a few upcoming markets and, for the time being, we won’t be taking on any custom orders. It’s not a decision we wanted to make, but right now his recovery has to come first.

The good news is that we still have plenty of beautiful pieces already made, so we’ll continue listing and selling those as normal. Every purchase during this time means the world to our little business, and we can’t thank you enough for your support.

We’re hoping this is just a temporary pause and that, with a lot of patience and plenty of physio, Steve will be back creating again before too long.

Thank you for sticking with us. ❤️

Jo & Steve

Our new playing cards are perfect to spice up game nights! The glitter is beautiful and doesn’t rub off so it’s not annoying and messy. Perfect to keep family entertained while inside during this cold weather.

They’re here! 🎉

Fresh off the printer… our brand new The Upcyclery business cards!

These will be coming with every order and will be on the table at all our markets. If you see us out and about, grab one and say hello!

Every card has a QR code taking you straight to our website, where you can browse our latest creations and find out where we’ll be next.

Now… we just need to make enough jewellery to go with them! 😆

Spent some time making upcycled copper wire bracelets today. I’ve made bracelets like these before, but this was my first time adding the wire wrapping. I think it turned out pretty good! What do you think ?

Card holders! Always one of our best sellers at family markets. These have just had their buttons added and are drying after Fray Check was applied to keep them safe and strong. Next job is snipping all the ends off!

One of the best parts of making these is hunting for beautiful fabrics.

Many come from charity shops, donated fabric, vintage scraps or remnants that would otherwise go unused.

Every pattern has its own little story before it even becomes a card holder.

Which fabric would you pick?

You don’t always have to wait for a market to find The Upcyclery.

We’re incredibly grateful to the wonderful local businesses that have chosen to stock our handcrafted jewellery. By supporting them, you’re also supporting a network of small Australian businesses that are passionate about unique, handmade creations.

Whether you’re visiting the Barossa, Gawler or heading a little further afield, you may just discover one of our pieces while you’re out exploring.

✨ You can find our current stockists here: https://theupcyclery.com.au/pages/stockists

We’re always honoured when another local business chooses to display our work, and we’d love you to support them whenever you can.

Thank you for supporting handmade, recycled and locally crafted jewellery. Every purchase helps keep old treasures out of landfill and gives them a beautiful new story. 💚♻️

One of our favourite parts of The Upcyclery is meeting the people who wear and treasure our creations.

If you’d like to browse our jewellery in person, chat with us about how it’s made, or simply see what’s new, we’d love to meet you at one of our upcoming markets.

Rather than trying to remember dates and venues, we’ve put all of our upcoming markets together in one handy place on our website.

📍 Find out where we’ll be next:

We regularly update the page as new markets are booked, so it’s worth checking back from time to time.

We hope to see you soon! 💚♻️

💚 The Secret Glow of Uranium Glass 💚

At first glance, uranium glass looks like ordinary green or yellow glass.

But shine a UV light on it and something magical happens... it glows a brilliant fluorescent green! ✨

Uranium glass has been captivating collectors for nearly 200 years. Small amounts of uranium were added during the glassmaking process to create its distinctive colour, and it became particularly popular during the Victorian era and throughout the early 20th century.

Despite its dramatic name, uranium glass is generally considered safe to handle and collect. Millions of pieces were produced, from elegant tableware and decorative ornaments to everyday household items.

At The Upcyclery, we love giving these historic fragments a new life. Each piece of uranium glass jewellery carries a little piece of history, transformed into something that can be worn and enjoyed once again.

Every item in our uranium glass collection includes a complimentary UV torch, so you can reveal its hidden glow whenever you like.

History by day. Magic by night. 💚
