Just thought I’d provide an update after the overwhelming response I had to my previous post regarding the outstanding invoice. I was shocked to see it went viral. I was saddened to read how many other people have/are in a a very similar situation.

The morning after my post, the person in question did reach out and said payment would be made the next day. Sadly that still has not happened as of 5 days later.

I am today heading off on an adventure of a lifetime and I am not going to let this cloud my holiday. I have to accept this persons morals that are very different to my own.

So I am now closed and will be returning on the 7th September🙌
Any quotes will be replied to on my return.

Stay safe… and remember… payment up front. ✌️

I’ve never posted anything like this before… and didnt know if I should post now. But I decided too.

In 8 years of business, I’ve never been in this situation.
I see myself as pretty accomodating especially when working with other businesses. I’m always happy to help, offer guidance or advice when asked and generally just help in any way. I’ve built so many relationships with like minded businesses,.. I’ve never seen them as competition … I’ve seen it as collaboration.

When businesses hire my items, I’ve always given 7 days payment terms.
Now I find myself in unfortunate position with a business that I thought we’d built up a good working relationship together.
Now they have not paid their last invoice for sometime despite multiple messages & emails being sent. I understand stuff happens… life happens… you never know what’s going on in someone else’s life… I especially know this all too well after juggling my unwell aged parents and running a business. I have made it clear that if there is a reason that payment hasn’t been made, just have a conversation with me. But all my communication attempts have gone unanswered. They are still actively posting on socials so are very much still in business.

Maybe it’s my fault… I’m too trusting… take people on face value.

Because of this… I have had to take a step back and reassess how I work. It’s not a lot of money… but it’s not the point. This person knows the challenges I recently faced with having to down size, rename and rebrand. It has not been easy…. Trying to rebuild a business back up after running such a successful well known brand for so long.
The events industry has been tough for sometime now. In the last 6 months I’ve seen many close up which is devastating.

Having to deal with this has been really upsetting…. And I have now made some decisions moving forward due to the actions of one person.
No longer am I allowing pickups… delivery only and full payment will be required upfront.

Small business owners… don’t make the same mistake I have.
