Just finished this 1961 Rustin Clown. It was quite a challenge as i have not worked with a rubber face. I also had fun tracking down the fabric for his hair. It had to be tea dyed as it was too blond. I wont be in a hurry to do another! Below are images of him finished and some progress shots. Before shots are at the end.

Dear little Lamby is a most loved fellow. He required a great deal of work, mostly hidden. A lovely soapy bath, tummy top up, threadbare areas darned, paw and foot pads covered. His eyes are still original but has had a twinkle back in them. Heading home soon to a very patient mum.

Poor little chap had an altercation with a naughty dog. The only way to save him was to re-line and stitch down all the original fabric. As always, it took twice as long as expected but this little beloved Ted is now ready for many more years of cuddles.

This restoration was quite a challenge as everything needed to stay the same. I was allowed to replace the foot and paw pads and shorten the arms back to normal length.The brown fabric was the base fabric that was so threadbare it was as fine as an old stocking. There were also a multitude of holes to be repaired. I basically relined the whole on the inside. Little darling also needed a nose as only a thread outline remained. A long process but once finished, Ted also received a smart waist coat!

This dear old Ted had a few problems and needed some close attention. His owner did not want any changes, not even replacement eyes. He was filled wirh toxic foam that had to be removed as did a nasty infestation. He needed a thorough clean and lots of holes repaired. He is now heading home to his dad who hardly recognised him. I think Ted is pretty excited as well.
