We are celebrating 4 years of UCH! This is what the boss has to say about the milestone;
4 Years with Sam: Looking Back & Looking Forward
The Beginning
1. What made you decide to start Urban Crane Hire?
I needed to try, I wanted to prove to myself that I could succeed.
2. When you started with one crane, did you imagine UCH would grow into what it is today?
No, not at all.
3. What was the biggest challenge in those early days?
Managing people. It’s interesting that the biggest challenge, and also what makes us successful, is the people.
Growth
4. What has been the biggest milestone for you over the last 4 years?
The business still running 4 years later, and the continuous steady growth.
5. Going from one crane to 12 — what does that growth mean to you personally?
Personally, I am surprised, but very proud. Of myself and the people who have helped UCH get to where we are.
6. What do you think has been the key to UCH’s success?
The right team.
Team
7. How important has building the right team been?
Very! Whether the team are beginners, or experienced, everyone is necessary.
8. What do you look for when bringing new people into the UCH family?
Someone who is driven and wants to learn. Someone who wants to do it properly under the right guidance.
Future
9. What’s next for Urban Crane Hire?
A bigger yard for all of our cranes and equipment. And bigger cranes of course.
10. If you could go back and give yourself advice on day one, what would you say?
Keep going, stay professional, grounded and humble. Be open to suggestions.
