A lot of change has occurred in the past 12 months for us as a family, for Wingham as a community and the world at large. Sometimes things have to change and for Wingham Nursery and Florist, change has been inevitable.
After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to close the florist section of our business at the end of September this year. Please note that the Nursery will continue to trade as usual.
This has certainly not been an easy decision, especially when the Nursery is still up for sale. As a family, we feel it is the right time to focus our resources on the Nursery so we can continue to provide the quality plants and service our customers have come to know and trust.
This will mark the beginning of a new chapter for Tanya, who has decided to retire. Having worked since she was just 15 years old, she feels the time has finally come to slow down, focus on her health, and enjoy the many hobbies and passions she has been looking forward to in retirement. Her dedication to the florist, her creativity, and the care she has shown our customers over the years have been truly remarkable, and we know many of you will join us in wishing her every happiness in this well-earned next chapter.
Our wonderful backup florist, Tawny, will also be moving on to pursue a new career path, and we wish her every success for the future and thank her for the professionalism and her dedication to the family business.
The florist has been a proud part of Wingham since Rhonda first opened it in the 1970s, and over the decades many talented florists have been part of its story. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has contributed to its success, along with our heartfelt thanks to each and every one of our loyal customers for your support over the years. It has been a privilege to create flowers for your celebrations, milestones, and to help bring comfort during life’s more difficult moments.
While the florist will no longer be available, we will increase our potted flowers and gift line section of the Nursery so that these needs can still be met.
Although we are saying goodbye to the florist, Wingham Nursery will continue to operate as usual, and we look forward to welcoming you in the future.
We would be delighted to offer advice and encouragement to help keep this valued service available for our town should anyone wish to go out as a florist on their own. On the same note, should the Nursery sell as we hope within the next 12 months, the infrastructure to open the florist again will still be available.
Thank you again for your kindness, loyalty, and support throughout the years. We sincerely hope brighter times lie ahead for our local businesses and community and we look forwared to seeing you all in the Nursery soon.
