The popularity of Madshus Skin Skis is growing, referred to in previous years as Intelligrip or IGS skis. Swix produces 3 products to extend the life of skins, prevent occasional icing, reduce dirt impregnation, & to clean them.

SKIN IMPREGNATION should be used when the skis are new before being skied on, at the beginning of each season, or when the skin wets out. Apply thoroughly in a back & forth movement, then let dry for 30 minutes.

SKIN BOOST can be used before each trip to improve glide & reduce icing. Rub gently from tip to tail, & let dry for just 3 minutes.

SKIN CLEANER can be used after each trip. It prevents the buildup of dirt, grease & contamination. Dirty skins are slower, have reduced glide & get heavier. Simply spray the cleaner on the supplied fiberlene towel, rub gently back & forth, & let dry.

EDIT: due to insufficient snow for grooming the difficult decision has been made to cancel this event.

This Saturday 13th July is the High Plains Tour XC Ski Race, organised by Howmans Gap Allstars Ski Club, & supported by Cross Country Skier. The current wet conditions should improve, with light snowfalls on Friday, & occasional snow flurries on Saturday. Contact Len Budge for further information 0417 352 845. The Telemark Nordic Ski Club is running their Come & Try XC Skiing days again this year, supported by Cross Country Skier. The first day is this Saturday 6th July, with the following 2nd & 3rd days on the first Saturday of August & September.

Following an inspection of snow conditions on the course today (Wednesday), and taking into consideration the expected weather conditions on Saturday, the Jury for the Kangaroo Hoppet has decided that it is not possible to hold a fair and safe competition and that the event should be cancelled.😥
The organising committee has decided that all entry fees will be refunded. This may take up to four weeks.
The race is off … but what is still happening?
Hoppet Race Shop will be open
Thursday 24th to Saturday 26th, 10am to 4pm
Sunday 27th, 9am to 12pm

Drop in & pick up your pre-ordered tee shirts and your FREE special can cooler! Other merchandise for sale includes tee shirts, beanies, the Hoppet Dozen and a selection of Worldloppet ski wear.

The Worldloppet Masters Reception at Howmans Gap Alpine Centre will still be held at 4.30 on Friday.

Saturday Night Social Evening in Mount Beauty from 7pm onwards in the Brewers Lounge at the West Peak Hotel. Bistro meals and pizza from 5.30 (bookings strongly recommended at 5754 4985). Come along and catch up with old friends and maybe meet some new ones.

Can I still get in some skiing? Why not! While it is not possible to hold the event, there is still some pleasant skiing to be had up in the Ruined Castle – Mt McKay area with great views of the High Plains and surrounds.
