What would you do if a friend rocked up at your door with a crate load of quince?

said “I would absolutely make an apple and quince ceumble”

said “Poach them! Then I can have them with breakfast and bake them into cakes or tarts 💚”

said “I’d go to my bookshelf, grab my copy of The Farm Table by Julius Roberts, flip to page 90 and make his ginger cake, poached quince and crème frâiche. For the rest I’d pile them high in bowls around the house till I mustered up the energy and essence of Maggie Beer to make enough quince paste to last me a lifetime.”

And what would we do? Well we would probably make batch of rosemary and quince syrup to splash in cold sodas all day long.

We cannot wait to one day visit the Old Macaroni Factory in Hepburn springs, right near Daylesford.

The story goes that two Italian brothers Pietro & Giacomo Lucini were the first to setup a pasta making factory (back then pasta was only known as macaroni) back in 1850 — feeding gold-rush communities and eventually turning the place into their home.

What was once Macaroni Factory is now a heritage-listed haven with Italian-inspired architecture, murals, gardens & quiet beauty.
