Spencer and Murphy Booksellers has been sold to Peter and Alannah Kimpton. Peter is a solicitor who has a legal office at Spencer and Murphy Booksellers. Alannah will be the bookshop lady. Please call in and make them welcome. The opening hours will be the same as is the phone number.

Visitors Roslyn and Lyn, two sisters, called in over the weekend. They said they had checked out Spencer and Murphy’s web page and found a book listed - “The Carillon Theatrical Society”which is a book about the Bathurst, NSW theatre company.

I found the book in my theatre section (despite it not being listed on my website). I’m not sure whose webpage they were looking at but it wasn’t mine.

Never mind, the ladies just wanted to show me their photo was in the book, performing in the theatre when they were young. The book’s still here 😊

Here is some trivia for you. I had read about where Ian Fleming found the name for his character 007, James Bond.
Amongst my bird books is one by James Bond so I thought I would share the story with you.

Fleming took the name for his character from that of the American ornithologist James Bond, a Caribbean bird expert and author of the definitive field guide Birds of the West Indies; Fleming, a keen birdwatcher himself, had a copy of Bond's guide and he later explained to the ornithologist's wife that "It struck me that this brief, unromantic, Anglo-Saxon and yet very masculine name was just what I needed, and so a second James Bond was born".

Owning a bookshop. Just when you have a plan to tidy, dust and organise every shelf in the bookshop and film it for FB you acquire a huge collection of bird books.
