Listen, if you’re new here, let me tell you what Summer Gems actually is.

It’s my home studio in Barbados. This is where I work most days at my bench with my pliers , wire, and a pile of handpicked semiprecious gemstones.

Every piece you see here was wrapped by my hands. No machines or factory. Just wire, stone, and a whole lot of attention to detail.

I’ve been doing this for over ten years. And y’all, I still get excited when a stone sits perfectly in its wrap in one take .

A new month, a fresh page in the planner ( that I barely used last month ), and another chance to create something beautiful. Here’s to whatever this month has in store. 💙

Government offices closing early had me scrambling out the house so fast that I ended up packaging deliveries in the car because if there’s one thing about me, I like being on time.

why is my camera roll suddenly in its emerald green era

opened my phone looking for one thing and apparently sage + emerald have quietly taken over everything lately 😭 flick through and you’ll see what I mean. I didn’t even realize I was doing this.

I’ll be honest with you. I get bored making the same thing over and over.

I know that might sound funny coming from a jewelry maker, but it’s true. Repetition squashes my creativity and when my creativity is squashed, the work suffers.

So small batches? They were never just a business decision … more a sanity one .
And y’all have been so on board with it, which honestly meets me halfway.

Here’s what small batches actually mean for you though. When you get one of our more complex designs, you’re not wearing what everyone and their mother has. You might cross paths with one other person wearing something similar, maybe two.

The more intricate the design, the fewer we make. Some pieces? One person gets it. That’s it.

Right now I’m at my work desk , string in front of me, scissors close by, burner ready, working on one of our gemstone bracelets. Cheesy lifetime movie in the background. Just me, my tools, and a design I’m genuinely excited about. And the nice thing about this one …. it’s the colors of our logo.
