Like the woodcutters, fishermen and golpata collectors who depend on the Sundarbans for their livelihood, the mowalis venture into the forest risking their life to eke out a meager living. Honey collecting runs in mowali families for generations, handed down from father to son. Almost every mowali family has a member who has either been injured or killed by a tiger. Despite the fact that honey col

lection in the Sundarbans is fraught with danger, the mowalis have not found any viable alternatives to their centuries-old trade. Sundori Agro is taking dynamic steps to help the mowalis get back to the easy life. Thus the community development project has also taken place when you are buying a honey bottle. The kind of maintenance projected on the National Geographic or Discovery Channel for Africa or elsewhere does not exist in Bangladesh. The Sundori Agro and Fisheries Ltd. is promoting about the permanent conservation station in the Sundarbans to monitor the rich biodiversity and take adequate protective measures. We should hope that this dream is rationalized sooner than later.
