💡🔬 A major advance in cancer research could transform how the disease is treated. Scientists have created a light-based therapy that can destroy up to 99% of cancer cells while avoiding the harsh side effects linked to chemotherapy and radiation. This technique, called photoimmunotherapy, pairs cancer-targeting antibodies with a light-sensitive compound to attack only diseased cells.

Once the antibodies lock onto cancer cells, near-infrared light is applied to activate the compound, causing the malignant cells to burst while healthy tissue remains safe. Because it is highly precise and minimally invasive, early lab and human studies show tumors shrinking quickly with little pain, scarring, or damage to the immune system.
