The Ambre Rouge is built around a single visual and olfactory idea; a well matured dried blood orange sliced open against a field of flower smoldering resin - still the juiced well aged to winey preservation, resin? A real life one, not epoxy; resin which is light greenish, light golden one, like galbanum, benzoin, etc., not the dark deep black ones. The name itself sets the direction - honeyed amber of classic orientals, but a red amber: slightly warm spicier, being touched with pink pepper corn and a little incense rather than pure sweetness, but jaw-clutching bitterness. The mood board tells the story before the nose does - bergamot leaves still wet, rose and orange-blossom petals scattered like offerings, a shard of raw golden amber resin, cardamom pods split open, weathered wood, and vanilla pods trailing incense-fume into a field of gold. It reads as a fragrance for dusk, the soft skin musk - the hour when citrus turns to embers.

Ambre Rouge is a "floriental" in construction (Hedione, Iso E Super supported rose-vanilla-ambergris core), but its character sits closer to a citrusy spiced amber: a bright, blood-orange opening giving way to a warm rose-and-cardamom heart, settling into a dense, slightly botanic but modern amber-balsam base. The "wild" in Wild Orange isn't a citrus cologne freshness - it's meant to feel closer to blood orange peel crushed with pink pepper and ginger like sparness: sharper, more feral than sweet orange.

Cardamom "Signature" Oil threads through this floral heart exactly as pictured - green, cineolic, faintly peppery - while some musk lends a soft musky-floral diffusion that keeps the rose from becoming too formal but a little powdery. This is the emotional center of the fragrance: floral, but never sweet; warm, but not yet resinous.

- the golden-red amber The drydown is where "amber" and "balsam" take over. The amber and woody aspects build a smooth, woody-ambery cushion, onto which dark-patchouli lays down an earthy, slightly slightly cocoa-toned depth. Vanilla and sugary note combine for a warm, resinous-sweet amber accord - closer to labdanum-and-benzoin territory than gourmand vanilla; although named so, an anti-contrust but a mix of confuaion state, while Ambergris absolute and Sandalwood add salt, skin-warmth - soft musk? And a creamy-woody undertone that keeps the whole base from tipping into confection.
