Wegens groot succes blijft de documentaire "The Tuners" nog even toeren langs internationale filmfestivals en competities! Binnen enkele maanden is de film waarschijnlijk ook te streamen.

🎹 Pianostemmers op het grote scherm
Op de "International Short Film Competition" tijdens het Krakau Film Festival afgelopen weekend, won "The Tuners" de prestigieuze "Silver Dragon".
"The Tuners" is een korte documentaire over de pianostemmers die een maand lang achter de schermen werken tijdens ’s werelds belangrijkste pianowedstrijd: de Chopin Piano Competitie in Warschau, Polen. Ze strijden niet om zelf te winnen, maar om de perfecte vleugelpiano te leveren, met als ultieme doel dat de uiteindelijke winnaar van de pianowedstrijd op hún instrument speelt.
Een film van regisseur Paweł Chorzępa, producer Joanna Chorzępa met in de hoofdrollen:

Hidemi Okubo(Shigeru Kawai)
Ortwin Moreau (Fazioli)

🏆 Internationale Prijzenregen
Ondertussen blijft deze film het ijzersterk doen in het internationale festivalcircuit en won het onlangs ook prijzen in Azië:
Indonesië: "The Best Short Film Award" en "The Best Short Documentary Award" op het Bali International Film Festival (Balinale).
Japan: "Non-Fiction Best Short Award" op het Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia 2026 in Tokio.

Bovenstaande prijzen maken deze indrukwekkende short documentary nu officieel gekwalificeerd voor een Oscar-nominatie
Voorlopig kan de documentaire uitsluitend bekeken worden binnen het festivalcircuit. Waarschijnlijk zal de film later voor het grote publiek beschikbaar worden via streaming.

World Piano Day 🎹

Music and pianism move are universal forces that connect people without translation. It feels absolutely essential to hold onto that right now.

Pianism might look like a solitary art, but it isn’t. It takes a village. Behind every performance are the people who shape the instrument and make a performance possible. This photo of Volodos with his tuners Michel Brandjes and Ortwin Moreau taken by our editor-in-chief is a small reminder of that shared work - and of how much is built together.

✨ Vier weken Warschau. Vier weken muziek, passie en perfectie.

Wat een eer om mijn bijdrage te leveren aan de 19de Internationale Chopin Wedstrijd 2025 voor piano 🎹. Ik mocht de Fazioli 278 concertvleugel servicen, en deel uitmaken van een onvergetelijke editie.

🏆 Felicitaties aan alle deelnemers, in het bijzonder de pianisten die de wedstrijd op de Fazioli vleugelpiano speelden:
- Eric Lu – Eerste prijs
- Tianyao Lyu – Vierde prijs
- Adam Kaldunski – Prijs voor beste Ballade

🙏 Bijzondere dank aan:
Paolo & Luca Fazioli, alle werknemers bij Fazioli Pianoforti, Fazioli Warsaw, Michal Twardy (mijn geweldige assistent), en het Chopin Institute Poland.

Dankbaar voor wat ik heb mogen meemaken.

Vandaag, 3 oktober 2025 is de start van de prestigieuze Chopin Piano Competitie in Warschau, Polen. Ca. 85 pianisten van over de hele wereld doen eraan mee.
Zij kunnen aan het begin van de wedstrijd kiezen op welke vleugelpiano ze de wedstrijd gaan spelen. Vijf concert vleugelpiano's: Fazioli, Steinway & Sons, C. Bechstein, Yamaha, Shigeru Kawai.
Ortwin Moreau zal gedurende de hele wedstrijd de Fazioli 278 concertvleugel servicen. In de maanden vooraf aan de wedstrijd werd deze vleugelpiano minutieus voorbereid en uitgebreid getest door verschillende gerenommeerde pianisten in verschillende concertzalen in Europa.

Onlangs had ik de eer om de mechaniek van de Blüthner vleugelpiano uit 1910, die toebehoorde aan componist Emmanuel Durlet, verder te optimaliseren.
Op deze mooie vleugelpiano worden regelmatig concerten georganiseerd:

Very big news!! We are constantly upgrading and investing to deliver the highest quality of recordings we possibly can and this is our next step in our quest for sonic greatness! End of july we are expecting the delivery of a Steinway D concert grand piano for our big studio! It is a 1980 Steinway D that spent his whole life in the concerthalls of De Singel in Antwerp and is currently being restored to brand new condition by , who is one of the greatest piano technicians in Belgium and beyond. No compromises are being made in the restoration and this piano will be an absolute joy to play and record music on!
Our current piano, Yamaha CF concert grand, will find its new home in our smaller recording studio and will receive a complete revision of the mechanics in October, by Ortwin as well. This way we will be able to offer a high quality of piano’s in each of our studios!

It's high time to start practicing! 👀 🎹 The 19th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition is fast approaching. In almost a year’s time, on 23 April 2025, the preliminaries for the Competition will begin in Warsaw.

The 19th Chopin Competition will take place in Warsaw in October 2025. Pianists born between 1995 and 2009 can take part in it. They will have to pass the qualifying procedure and then the preliminary round. The application form will be available from 23 September to 15 December 2024.
