Wandering through Murano’s old warehouses is also this: finding an abandoned lot of uncirculated unique rosetta beads. Who made them? How old are they? Was it a try out? Nobody knows… I’m offering some of these in Friday’s Facebook Sale! A Sale dedicated entirely to one type of bead! For the diehard collector! Ànd for the Jewelry designer: you will have probably noticed many costume jewellery designers now are adding chevron beads to their designs (think Dries Van Noten)…

These vintage Murano foil beads weren’t left glossy by accident, the soft, velvety “satin” finish comes from an acid bath, applied after the bead was already finished. The acid etches the glass just enough to turn shine into texture.
One extra, deliberate step most people never think about when they see a matte bead.

Preparing tomorrow’s Facebook Sale!

A Facebook Sale actually starts weeks before the event. I’m constantly brainstorming new themes to create sales that feel inspiring and unique.

Once the theme is clear in my mind, I start going through boxes and drawers, carefully selecting beads and strands that fit the story of the sale.

When the date is fixed, I divide everything into 25–30 matching lots. Then comes one of my favorite parts: creating small combinations of beads that work beautifully together and make each set visually exciting.

When all the sets are ready, it’s time for photography, luckily I have my light box!

First, I make the announcement picture and create the Facebook event. The day before the sale, I write all descriptions and often retake a few photos to make sure everything looks just right.

In the meantime, I regularly post previews on Facebook and Instagram so you can discover what will be on offer.

And finally… the day before the sale, I schedule all Facebook posts.

Fingers crossed, hopefully you’ll love tomorrow’s selection as much as I loved preparing it!
