In The Bries Space publisher Ria 'Bries' Schulpen (www.bries.be) organises events in the fields of painting, comic art, illustration, graphic design, animation and sculpture. The Bries Space also hosts a small comic books shop with the finest titles from the best publishers and collectives from around the world. chulpen. Het is een ruimte waarin beeldende kunstenaars - zij het schilders, grafici, illustratoren, striptekenaars, beeldhouwers of animatietekenaars - vrij en ongebonden hun 'ding' kunnen doen. The Bries Space is een plek voor tentoonstellingen, happenings, optredens. The Bries Space herbergt tevens een kleine stripwinkel met een selectief en gespecialieerd aanbod.

In de expo Josei kijk je naar en voorbij het traditionele schoonheidsideaal van de bijin, de mooie vrouw, en ontdek je eveneens de vrouw als acteur, moeder, heldin en (seks)godin.

Opening Friday 13/02, 18h-22h. Welcome!

Wim Lots has a background in theatre and sound, but his main focus is on drawing nowadays.

In 2005 he was in Gaza, taking part in a theatre project with local youth and four collegues from Brussels. They were invited by the Jewish/Dutch/Palestinian grassroots organization Theatre Day Productions, operating in the occupied territories. It was a shocking but warm and unforgettable experience, leaving deep traces in Wim Lots'soul.

The drawings on view in his expo 'Silent Screens' ar the Bries Space are related to the horror of witnessing day after day from a distance the total destruction of Gaza and a very big part of its (young) people - the destruction still going on, despite the so-called ceasefire.
These drawings are a selection from a large series .ots has worked on from October 2024 until now.
