Had a great time examining the 1647 Borlon bass in the Antwerp Vleeshuis collection. Big thanks to Conservator Mirte Maes and Museum Vleeshuis Klank van de Stad. A beautiful and very interesting instrument!

Some basses have dents and scratches under the bridge foot, often due to old pick-ups that were placed underneath. I like to fit bridge feet precisely, so sometimes that results in this Lego-like fit!

Ending the day with this lovely bass, if I'd have to define beauty in general, I'd definitely draw some inspiration from this instrument. So happy to have these georgous examples of mastery around!
