Again, I need to take some better pictures…
But this is « Joan » !
Inspired by my own John-self.

This was a build perfectly fit for my chaotic brain…
I started with the idea of a shape, and went straight for it… no plans, nothing.
Full impulsivity !
Took me 2-3 years to finish it…

This is inspired by the old Harmonys.

Hollow cedar body
Sitka Spruce top
Thick maple neck with Indian rosewood fingerboard
One Cavall underwound P90
One volume

Should be done this week, before heading to Chamoson.

This was a chaotic impulsive build, with no plans and no idea where I was going…
It’ll be a pawnshop special inspiration !

All built in my tiny Schaerbeek basement workshop.

I finally took a photo of the first guitar to come out of the Cavall workshop, here in Brussels.
It is my first build in 6 years.
It was finished a few weeks ago and has already gigged a fair bit.

European flamed maple neck
Swamp ash body
Indian Rosewood fingerboard
ABM Strat bridge (made in Germany)
locking tuners
Bone nut
Cavall « firebird » style pickups (handwound by myself in the workshop)

It is simple, but sounds great and fits perfectly the sound !

C’est la fin des vacances et il est temps que je me remette sérieusement au travail.

Les concerts de l’été m’ont pris beaucoup de temps et d’énergie et après avoir fini deux gros projets de fabrications, j’ai été un peu moins actif à l’atelier.

Vu que je continue à jouer tous les week-ends (🤞), je vais limiter les réparations aux mardis et mercredis, et je continue à ne travailler que sur rendez-vous.

Les photos suivantes sont de la première basse qui est sortie de l’atelier.
J’ai construit le corps adapté à ce vieux manche de Kramer, en aluminium. Le manche pèse très lourd, et il fallait un corps qui puisse balancer le poids : une forme de P-B avec la longue corne a fait parfaitement l’affaire.
C’est une bonne machine à gros son !
