About Hilko
Hilko Nackaerts' lifelong passion for guitars began in his early childhood, evolving into a fascination with stringed instruments. In 1994, Hilko honed his craft by studying Luthiery at the prestigious ILSA, mastering the art of guitar-making. Following his studies, Hilko hit the road as a guitar tech, working with Belgian bands before touring with renowned artists such as K’s Choice, Axelle Red, Fishbone, Simple Minds, Nile Rodgers, and Al McKay’s Earth, Wind & Fire Experience. These experiences deepened his expertise in vintage guitars and inspired the creation of his first prototypes. From his workshop in Belgium, Hilko crafted his debut model, the ‘HC’—a hollowbody Tele-style guitar with acoustic elements. The model immediately gained recognition when Charlie Burchill of Simple Minds praised its exceptional design and tone. Since then, Hilko has handcrafted guitars for internationally acclaimed artists, blending traditional craftsmanship with innovative design. In addition to building guitars, Hilko continues to tour globally as a guitar tech and production manager with Al McKay’s Earth, Wind & Fire Experience. These experiences inspire new designs, keep him connected to the evolving music scene, and allow him to collaborate with guitarists and bassists worldwide.
“Every Hilko Guitar is individually handcrafted by me, using the finest tonewoods and components. I pour my heart and soul into every instrument, giving each one its unique character. No two loveguns are alike.
