Called 'Luck of Edenhall', this yellowish glass beaker, brilliantly enamelled in red, blue, green and gilt, was first mentioned in 1729 in a ballad referring to a drinking match organized at Eden Hall in 1721.

From the past until now jewelry can be understood as a level of social status or matirial properties.

The oldest known jewelry items are found in Skhul Cave in Israel.
Archaeologist have discovered that 100, 000- year- old shell beads. They represent earliest personal adornment.

The ancient people used teeth, bone, stone and animal skin to made crude necklaces and bracelets.

Things are far more sophisticated when it comes to Egyptian jewelry. The favourite matirial was Lapis- Lazuli, gold, copper and coloured glass. In addition to jewelry, they used them to create hair accessories, belts and amulets.

There is no way to pass the ancient Greek ornaments. They used many semi-precious stones such as agate, sardonyx, garnet and pearls to make them.
In some of them they depicted scenes from their mythology. It is known that they also buried their dead with jewelry.

And last but not least, the oldest technologically processed gold in the world was discovered in the Varna necropolis.
It is about over 3000 items weighing 6 kilograms, including jewelry and can be seen in the Varna Archaeological Museum.
