Charging the batteries :)

Two days ago I set off on a hike in the Bulgarian mountains with my family and friends. This will be my week for clearing the head and filling the heart.

No stories, no posts, no reels — just the trail, filling our tummies with the abundance of berries and enjoying our time together.

And then I'll come back to share all the new and exciting things I've been preparing for you for this autumn.

The beauty of modular dollhouses.

It starts with one.

Then another appears on top of it. The rooms connect. The story shifts. The play grows.

Add one more and the whole landscape changes.

This is what modular means. It follows your child. It expands when they need it to. It changes when they want it to.

Open-ended, child-led play that never looks the same twice.

It all started when she decided to bring her Small Storyhouse under the kitchen table.

"It's cold and cosy here", she said.

Then ran to get the Triangle Storyhouse.

"I need a roof. Oh, and...." - she ran in and out of the kitchen a few more times, bringing bits and bobs that were really needed :)

And then all was quiet.
(because she was immersed in the story)

I was quiet too.
(because adults should never interfere when true play is happening)

Sometimes little ones use the Small Storyhouse as storage — every favourite toy piled inside.
Or perhaps these are their very first steps in making a home for their characters — dolls, animals, all of them welcome.
Children don't need to know "how" to play with a dollhouse. It just looks different at every age.

How old was your little one when they first started playing with a dollhouse?

I love watching this happen......

You pull into a new campsite. Nobody knows anybody. The children are shy, hanging back, sizing each other up the way children do.

Then someone starts a project. A big one — the kind that needs more than one pair of hands to get right.

And that's all it takes.

Within minutes they're not children who happen to be camping nearby — they're a small team with a shared job to finish.

Children are so natural at making new friends when play is the bridge.
