My dad passed away last week 💔 My dad was a manifestation of the American dream, growing up very humbly in Holland, moving to the United States in his late 20s as a US sales rep for a medical company - a job that was supposed to take him abroad for only a few years but turned into a 25-year-long stay in California. He became an entrepreneur, starting a newsletter on medical device technology, ultimately selling his company and moving back to Holland with my mom once my brother and I were in college. I was always a bit of a black sheep in the family (as deadheads often are), and I still remember the moment I realized my dad and I were actually even more alike than I initially thought: he and my mom traveled all over for classical concerts, just like I travel all over for the music of the Grateful Dead 💖 I am the apple to his tree ❤️ RIP Pieter Halter, my beloved dad. May the four winds blow you safely home 🌈💕💕
