A newly discovered Black Lotus 🪷

This weekend I was visiting my friend Matt, who recently opened a great little shop called Game Castle Video Games and Collectibles in Penticton!

He sent me a picture of this card and I raced to meet him. I got to speak with the original owner, who bought a single Unlimited Starter deck back in 1993 and kept it until now. Imagine spending $7.99 on a starter deck, opening a Lord of the Pit and a Black Lotus, not thinking much of it, and then finding it again 30+ years later in your attic. She mentioned seeing a Black Lotus on an Antiques Roadshow clip and went to dig out her Magic cards. It was very cool to hear her story, and I’m excited to now be the card’s 2nd owner.

We’re always buying everything from Modern to vintage grails like this! If you have an old school collection like this, feel free to reach out!

If you’re in the interior, go check out CastleMan at 288 Westminster Ave in downtown Penticton, or give him a follow. The shop is open 6 days a week (closed Sundays). He’s the guy for Pokémon in the interior with a monster selection. He’s also got a growing Magic section and might be getting organized play going in the near future.
