Great article by the dudes at Next Bite outdoors and legendary touring pro Gary Parsons on fish location . It has been a very funny spring . I have found fish have been biting way better on windy rainy sh*tty weather days . The beautiful spring days with sun and flat calm water has made for tougher days but still nice fish . It’s nice to be on a boat on those days but you always seem to be working for your fish and into your bag of tricks . Out with some Australian tennis 🎾 pros today which should be a ton of fun. I have these 4 inch hand poured swim baits custom made for me . The original lure maker became much bigger and was unable and unwilling to make them for me due to the time involved. Which is very understandable. I had to find another source . Down to my last 18 baits I spent a year with a few different lure makers . They could never get the colour just right . This is very important in clear water trying to replicate the colour of gobies . Well 3 years ago I found a very talented lure maker who said no problem. After two test runs to get the colour just right he had a perfect match . I also ordered another colour as well black with silver sparkle which when paired with a blue Vegas sparkle jig can be deadly . I ordered 500 in the goby colour and 200 in the black / silver. I have caught hundreds of walleyes over the years with a chartreuse jig head. I fish these jigs usually in current . On the Detroit River I use a 5’8 St Croix Eyecon heavy action jigging rod . On other tributaries of the Great Lakes I use a St Croix AvidX 7’1 medium light and a 6’10”St Croix Mojo Bass medium light. I use Daiwa Fuego 2500 reels with 10 pound braid and I tie in a 4 foot fluorocarbon leader . Lots of swim baits now and probably for the rest of my fishing life . Were they expensive? yes . Was it worth it ? Yes. Tight lines everyone.

Great day on the water with 3 generations of great guys . Fishing really is the greatest. As you get older you understand there are no age boundaries and it’s something you can do as a senior with much younger people . All you young moms and dads should try to learn and get good at it . It will pay huge dividends when you are older
