With more families than ever relying on the Ancaster Food Bank, many are struggling to cover back-to-school costs. Your donations can make a real difference and help local children and teens start the school year ready to succeed.

💊 Reminder for Ontario Seniors: Annual ODB Deductible Resets August 1

Beginning August 1, some Ontario seniors enrolled in the Ontario Drug Benefit (ODB) program may be required to pay their annual deductible before their prescription coverage resumes.

The deductible is $100 per year. Once it has been paid, you'll continue to pay only your regular co-payment for eligible medications for the remainder of the benefit year.

🌡️Heat Warning & Wildfire Smoke Alert 🌫️

Hamilton is currently under a Yellow Heat Warning and an Orange Air Quality Warning due to wildfire smoke. With the humidex making it feel like 41°C, it's important to take extra precautions to protect your health.

💧 Stay hydrated– Drink water regularly, even if you don't feel thirsty.

🏠 Stay cool indoors– Keep windows and doors closed, and set your air conditioner to recirculate to help keep smoky air outside.

🚶 Limit outdoor activities– Avoid strenuous exercise, especially during the hottest part of the day. If you must be outside, consider wearing a *ell-fitted N95 or KN95 mask to reduce exposure to wildfire smoke.

🚗 Never leave anyone in a parked vehicle – Children, older adults, and pets are especially vulnerable to heat-related illness.

❄️ Need relief?Visit a local air-conditioned public space if your home becomes too hot.

❤️ Pay extra attention to older adults, young children, pregnant individuals, and anyone with heart or lung conditions.

If you're experiencing symptoms such as difficulty breathing, chest pain, dizziness, or signs of heat exhaustion, seek medical attention promptly.

📢 Important Update About Prescription Availability

At Rastin's Pharmacy, we believe in keeping our patients informed.

Our primary pharmaceutical distributor is currently experiencing unexpected operational issues at one of its distribution centres. As a result, some prescription medications and pharmacy products may take longer than usual to arrive. This issue is unfortunately affecting all Pharmacies within our area.

Please know that our team is working hard to minimize any impact on your care by:
💙 Sourcing medications through alternate suppliers whenever possible.
💙 Monitoring inventory closely and prioritizing urgent prescriptions.
💙 Working with your healthcare provider to discuss suitable alternatives if needed.

If you're due for a prescription refill, we encourage you to request it a few days earlier than usual whenever possible. This gives us extra time to ensure your medication is available.

We understand how important your medications are, and we sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding while these temporary supply challenges are resolved.
