Discover a remarkable piece of WWII Canadian postal history — a complete FWS5 Federal War Savings donation sheet (18 stamps) cancelled CANADIAN POSTMASTERS ASSOCIATION with a clear BRUNO, SASK, JUL 27, 1940 split-ring postmark. Donated by Acting Postmaster Raymond J. Fisher — a generous $4.50 in 1940 (≈C$93.33 today) from a small community of ~540 people. van Dam FWS7, 25c Ships (Sailor), Die Proof /Essay / Telegram GROUP, Canada, Canada Federal War Savings including (1) Small Hardended Die Proof, (1) black Photographic Essay and a Telegram approving the color of the design dated June 20, 1941.

CARIS Identifiers:
ECAWS8, The die was engraved by Harold Osborne, and approved on 02 July 1941.

black, a photographic essay of the sailor design in stamp size.

A stamp-size photographic essay can exist alone, or as part of the black photographic essay previously described for each design (the ones that measure 66 by 57 mm), with the smaller essay being located immediately below the larger one on the same piece of photographic paper.

NOTE from S. Moreland: Third pic above is the image of the same die proof that is in the group.
