It's about time I come on here and let you all know what's up.
COVID changed everything.
As everything started getting cancelled and the future of 2020 started becoming SCARY uncertain, I just kept doing what I do. I've been crafting for 22 years. I can't tell you how many times my hobbies have gotten me out of a tight spot with income difficulties.
Anywho, for the past several years I have really hit the jackpot selling online. Right now, I have 105 open orders, despite just sending out 20 in 2 days. We're talking HUNDREDS of items in a week, every week, just non stop handmade action.
So..... Busy.
Little known (or maybe widely known depending how close you are to me) fact: I have several chronic medical conditions. I need to start recognizing my limits and being smarter with my energy! Immersing myself in a very cutthroat dramatic industry is not the best thing for a chronically ill person who already has PLENTY going on and is busy enough.
I'm getting invited to craft shows left and right and really wish I could partake in a mix of theirs and my own to make everybody happy like I did in 2019, but one thing is abundantly clear in 2020:
There's too many craft sales.
I'm sorry, but it's true.
Wednesday's, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, all week every week, every surrounding town, too.
I'm not bashing the situation. I'm glad there's opportunities. That was my vision when I started organizing craft shows, I loved it, and it definitely was a "bucket list" thing crossed off.
I have lived here for 31 years so I know generally what my area can handle, and honestly, it's not more craft sales.
So for those two reasons, I have to back out of organizing the in-person craft shows. FOR NOW. I will leave this page open just in case I see an opportunity to restart them, but I won't be planning any buildings full of table kinds of vendor sales for the foreseeable future.
I might run online events here and there like I did in March and April, but as for in-person events: I feel like our area has more than enough and I'm just too busy to fight it.
HOWEVER..... I am a longtime enthusiast of side hustles and will ALWAYS be here to refer people to you in conversation, like, someone looking to buy Tupperware, Epicure, Norwex, etc. I remember all of you and use my personal time to refer people to you and I hope some of you have gotten some sales because of it. That's not going to stop anytime soon.
I'm still here, I'm still a fan of craft sales, I just REALLY have more than enough going on. Hope I will see you around, but right now I really have to focus on the online shop.
