The baby robins have fledged. Yesterday they stepped out of the nest looked down with their last good bye and when I wasn’t looking all four flew and were gone. I feel so privileged that they choose to be born and grow upon my front porch. It felt like I was being let in on a deeper level to the wonders of living upon this earth.
A young bear came by to check the compost, he looked over at me with some disappointment at the choices available and meandered off up the hill, black coat shining in the sun.
The apricots have begun to fall from a wild tree, that grows finding it own way. The apricots are freckled and when you gather them from the ground they are perfect for cake and jam, juicy, tart, sweet.
The blueberries are plump and purple blue. The grandchildren wander down and pick, filling a bucket then filling themselves. I made waffles, spread with blueberries then drizzled with maple syrup. So delicious. Nala, the oldest great grand daughter said they made her “dance inside”.
It was a special day in an Okangan summer, complete with a swim and as I sat with Alexa on the beach an eagle flew into a pine tree above, an osprey flew north, the greebes called to each other as the mourning dove sang.
Just as I was writing the above, last week, Alexa called me to say the The Twisted Purl Yarn Studio had burnt.
Shock, Shock, Disbelief, Wow
My life had just taken another turn. I dressed got into the car and drove to Armstrong.

Dear Twisted Purl Friends,

It is with an incredibly heavy heart that we share some heartbreaking news.

Last night, The Twisted Purl Yarn Studio was destroyed by a devastating fire. At this time, the store has been completely lost.

While we are deeply saddened by the loss of the shop that has meant so much to us and to so many of you, we are grateful that no one was injured.

The Twisted Purl has always been much more than a yarn store. It has been a place where friendships were formed, skills were shared, projects were celebrated, and creativity flourished. We know this loss will be felt throughout our knitting and fibre community.

We are still processing everything that has happened and do not yet know what the coming days and weeks will look like. We ask for your patience as we work through the immediate aftermath.

The outpouring of messages, phone calls, and support we've already received means more than we can express. Thank you for keeping us in your thoughts.

We will share updates as we learn more. For now, thank you for being part of the Twisted Purl family.

With heartfelt gratitude,

The Twisted Purl Yarn Studio

Summer is made for knitting beyond four walls, and we'd love to see where your stitches are spending the season!

Are you knitting on the dock? Crocheting by the campfire? Relaxing on the patio? Enjoying a quiet morning at the lake, in the garden, at the cabin, or while camping? Wherever your project goes, we want to come along—through your photos!

Your photo could be featured in an upcoming newsletter or on our social media, inspiring fellow makers to grab their yarn and head outdoors.
