What if, instead of telling kids to wait for social media or banning it altogether, we helped them understand why we set boundaries around apps that were never made with kids’ safety in mind?

It explores the research and statistics behind how phones and social media can affect sleep, attention, friendships, mental health and everyday life, while helping kids understand why waiting until they’re older to enter the world of social media actually matters.

Governments around the world are beginning to take the effects of social media on children seriously, including here in Canada, where proposed legislation would restrict social media accounts for children under 16 unless platforms can demonstrate sufficient protections for young users.

Because kids deserve to understand the why behind the boundaries we’re setting.
