For the past few weeks with the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan, I have been all over the place emotionally. I have been helpless, hopeless, angry, sad, anxious, devastated etc.. And oh guilty!! I had to do something on my part. My very little but important contribution to the crisis is to spread the 'Unity' message. This has been the source of all-things-going-wrong in Afghanistan since forever.
Although, this powerful message has been said for hundreds of years but maybe we need a little harder push to swallow it, digest it, and to finally act upon it. We need to be brainwashed by this message. We are stronger together, not divided. Anyway, you all know the power of this message, but the point is to see it as often and frequently as we can. That's when we will remember it subconsciously and will act upon it unknowingly.
Last week I found this amazing artist and explained my vision, concept and goal to her to draw a group of women and men wearing different types of clothing (which somehow shows different Afghan ethnics and tribes) smiling together as a one united group; like a family photo. And she did a great job transforming the idea.
