Happy Tuesday!

This is not the post I had wanted for the grid since we’ve been so quiet lately but, we’re still experiencing some difficulties. Hoping to have this fixed ASAP for everyone. In the meantime, if you’re trying to access your account or inquire about your order, or have general questions please reach out via DM or email! “Confidence isn’t ‘they will like me.’ Confidence is ‘I’ll be okay if they don’t.’” – Christina Grimmie

I made this swimsuit.
And then I almost didn’t wear it.
It felt like… a lot of skin.
Not the most flattering.
I haven’t worn a bikini in a long time.

And when I saw this photo? I debated sharing it.
Picked it apart. Wondered if it was “too much.”
Too soft, too exposed, too imperfect.

But my teenage daughter looked at me and said,
“Mom, no one really cares but you. Just wear it.”

So here I am. In a me-made suit. On a dock.
Still feeling a bit unsure, honestly.
But also really proud.
Of the suit. Of the moment. Of showing up anyway.

Because maybe confidence isn’t loud or fearless.
Maybe sometimes it looks like hitting ‘share’ even when your inner critic is screaming not to.

And no, this fabric or pattern isn’t in the shop—this one was just for me. But sometimes the why behind the make matters more than the link I could drop.

Now in stock: One slightly chaotic but totally passionate maker!

Hey, I’m Julie — owner of The Maker Studio, fabric hoarder and professional daydreamer. It’s been a little bit since I’ve introduced myself here, and there are so many new faces (and familiar ones too) that I figured this would be the perfect time!

This little shop is where creativity, community and all the handmade goodness happens.

It came about as a dream when I learned to sew to create a safe space for all sewists to ask questions and find inspiration, but also as a place to find fun modern sewing supplies for everyday wear.

We evolved into offering workshops and classes locally for kids and adults alike to find their passion for sewing. And added preorders to help bring the cost and affordability of sewing down.

I hope you find something you love here, wether it be community, a fabric or support for your sewing journey. Thanks for tagging along!
