A "marketing" account messaged us this week offering 50 fake Facebook reviews for $150 — and planted 3 fake 5-star reviews on our page as a "demo" to prove it.

We said no.

Your reviews matter to us — that's exactly why we won't fake them. Real reviews mention the room, the product, the crew, the mess we swept up. If a business has hundreds of reviews that all sound the same and say nothing specific — that's the tell.

We've done floors in Barrie since 2012 on referrals from real customers, and we're keeping it that way.

Small business owners in Simcoe County — these messages are going around. Don't buy it. Google and Facebook remove fake reviews and can suspend your whole profile.

There's a number on every hardwood floor, and almost nobody asks for it.

And one thing people mix up constantly: hardness says nothing about scratches. Scratches come from the finish on top, not the wood underneath. Two different problems, two different numbers.
Come see them side by side — grain and colour are much easier to judge in person.

Where our hardwood meets tile — look for the metal strip or the raised wood bar. There isn't one.

We run the wood straight into the tile with no transition piece at all. It's more work: the two floors get levelled so they finish dead flush, the wood is scribed and cut to follow the tile line, and we frame the edge with a border board so the seam stays tight and straight for good.

What you get: one continuous surface. Nothing to stub a toe on, nothing for crumbs and mop water to collect in, and it reads as one custom floor instead of two rooms bolted together.

Planning a kitchen, an entry, or a fireplace hearth? Ask about a flush transition before the tile goes in — that's when it's easiest.

"Waterproof laminate" isn't really a thing.

It's water-RESISTANT — not waterproof. The better products hold up
around 72 to 100 hours; plenty of them a lot less. Everyday spills you
wipe up in time are no problem. It's water that sits past that limit
that gets down to the core.

That core board is HDF: wood fibre pressed together with glue. Dense as
it is, it still soaks up water — and once the core swells, it doesn't
shrink back.

Want something genuinely waterproof? That's SPC vinyl — a stone-and-
plastic core, no wood, so water does nothing to it.

anything wider than that is actually engineered, not solid.

Solid = one piece of real wood, top to bottom.
Engineered = a real hardwood layer on top of a plywood core —
that’s what lets it be made wider without warping.

Both look like real wood. The difference is what‘s underneath,
and it’s why width is actually a good clue when you‘re shopping.
