Velvet Raspberry and Sweet Crystal. Luscious colours now opening in the glad field. Tom ordered a few premium Flamenco bulbs, and now we see why they are premium. Extra sturdy stems supporting extra heavy blooms, in extraordinary colours. Here we see raspberry red and ivory, and we expect purple yet to come. Flamencos are an experiment for us - are the results worth the extra cost? - so their numbers are limited. I do not use filters on the flower shots, preferring the colours to speak for themselves. Here, the photos do not do them justice. They are rare flowers.
P.S. The extra cost of these specialty bulbs is ours alone. You pay the same for them as for the standard glads in the field. $1.50 for 1 stem, $5 for 4 stems, $10 for 10 stems. Sunflowers are $1 each, and zinnias (not many came up this year) are 2 for $1. Open daylight hours, every day.

The flower field, awake! Glads and sunflowers are blooming, ready for picking, any day during daylight hours. Clippers on the table, cash box for cash payment. Photos free, as always.

At last! The glads woke up! The first planting were, ahem, "delicate flowers" that took offence at the chilly soil, then the dry spell, and then the deluge of heavy rain. The second planting is faring far better. The field is open every day during daylight hours, clippers on the table, cash box to take cash payment only, photos free, as always.
