Pepper plant life cycle, from seed to harvest.
1. Seed
Warmth and moisture trigger germination.
2. Germination
The root emerges first, then the seed leaves open.
3. Seedling
True leaves appear as roots and foliage expand.
4. Establishment
The young plant settles into its final pot or garden bed.
5. Vegetative growth
It builds stems, branches, leaves, and overall plant size.
6. Flowers + fruit set
Blooms open. Pollination leads to tiny peppers.
7. Fruit development + ripening
Peppers grow to size while green, then change to their mature colour.
Ripe colours vary by variety. Some peppers are picked green, while others are left on the plant to fully ripen.
Save this for pepper season.
