Mineral Monday x Minecraft: Obsidian 🖤⛏️

Black, glassy and razor sharp, obsidian has fascinated humans for thousands of years. In Minecraft, it’s used to build enchanting tables and portals to the Nether. Balance, bravery, and... pillows? 🛏️💦

One of the most entertaining community spectacles at Britannia was the annual pillow fight competition at the Mt. Sheer pool! Two competitors would square off on a slippery log, trying to knock each other into the water. This shot from circa 1938 proves that even in a hard-working mining town, there was always time for a splash of fun!
