Some of the best things to grow from flowers aren’t flowers at all. 🤍🌿

Over the years, many of us have had the chance to work alongside Sydney, sharing busy seasons, early mornings, countless laughs and, of course, a whole lot of flowers. Somewhere along the way, coworkers became friends, and those friendships became a community we’re incredibly grateful for.

This weekend, we got to celebrate one of our own as Sydney got married. 💍🤍

Many of our customers have also gotten to know Sydney over the years, and that’s one of the things we love most about this industry. Flowers have a way of bringing people together. Customers become familiar faces, coworkers become lifelong friends, and the connections we make can reach far beyond the cooler doors.

It felt pretty special to have flowers at the heart of another beautiful moment in Sydney’s life, surrounded by people who have shared so many chapters along the way.

This month, we’re shining the spotlight on Abhay, who supervises and coordinates our Grower 368 program.

From keeping an eye on trends and product availability to coordinating imported products for auction, Abhay helps make sure our customers have access to a great variety while staying mindful of what our local growers are bringing to market.

Behind the scenes, he keeps product moving, teams organized, and quality top of mind. His attention to detail, calm approach, and easy-going nature make him a valued part of the UFI team.

This month, we’re happy to shine our August staff spotlight on Christina.

Christina is an important part of our Accounts Receivable team, helping manage day-to-day transactions, customer payments, invoicing questions, account inquiries, and customer profile records. Her work often happens behind the scenes, but it plays a big role in keeping things running smoothly for both our customers and our team.

What makes Christina so appreciated is not just what she does, but how she does it. She is kind, helpful, patient, and always willing to jump in wherever she is needed. Whether she is answering a customer question, helping resolve a payment concern, or stepping in to support the team, Christina brings care and professionalism to every situation.

She has a way of making customers feel heard and cared for, even in moments that may require a little extra patience. Her knowledge of flowers and the floral industry adds even more value to the support she provides each day.

Christina is a wonderful asset to United Floral, and we are grateful for her dedication, her helpful spirit, and the calm, friendly presence she brings to the team.

And of course, we have to mention her beautiful handwriting. It’s one of those small details that feels so perfectly Christina.

A beautiful day at Eurosa Farms 🌹

Our team recently had the opportunity to visit Eurosa Farms for a behind-the-scenes look at their incredible rose production.

From walking through the greenhouses to learning more about their growing practices, varieties, and quality standards, it was such a valuable experience to see the care and expertise that goes into every stem.

Visits like this help us deepen our product knowledge, strengthen our grower relationships, and bring even more insight back to our customers.

Celebrating Ursula 💐
This month, we’re celebrating Ursula and her incredible 49-year career in the floral industry.

Ursula began her floral journey in 1977 with David L. Jones, where she started as a cashier, switchboard operator, and telex machine operator. A few years later, she moved into the Supply Department, where her interest in purchasing, sourcing, and imports began to grow.

By the late 1980s, Ursula had moved into supply purchasing, a role that would take her around the world. Over the years, she travelled throughout Asia on buying trips, including the Philippines, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and mainland China. At a time when few women in the floral industry were travelling internationally to buy, Ursula was building vendor relationships, sourcing new products, and helping shape the supply side of the business with confidence, dedication, and care.

Her knowledge, work ethic, and passion for her craft have made a lasting impact on United Floral, our Supply Department, and the customers we support every day.

After 49 incredible years, Ursula is looking forward to retirement and spending more time with her grandchildren, camping, gardening, and travelling to visit family in Europe.

Ursula, thank you for everything you have given to this industry and to our team. Your knowledge, presence, and dedication will be deeply missed, but your impact will continue to be felt for years to come.

This month, we’re shining a spotlight on our IT Team, the behind-the-scenes problem-solvers who help keep United Floral connected, secure, and running smoothly every day.
While their work may not always be front and centre, it supports almost every part of our business. From system support and troubleshooting to equipment setup, software access, security, and new technology, our IT team helps keep our day-to-day operations moving.

Their support reaches every department, including Sales, Purchasing, Operations, Fresh Flowers, Supplies, Administration, and more. Whether they’re resolving a technical issue, improving a process, or helping introduce new tools, they play an important role in keeping our teams supported.

A big thank you to our IT Team for your patience, knowledge, quick support, and dedication. Your work may often happen behind the scenes, but its impact is felt across UFI every day.

A little BBQ and a big thank you to our UFI team!

After Mother’s Day, our busiest holiday of the year, we wanted to take a moment to say thank you to our staff for all of their hard work, long days, teamwork, and dedication.

It takes every department working together to make a season like Mother’s Day happen. From receiving and processing to sales, buying, packing, shipping, supplies, customer service, admin, and everything in between, our team showed up in a big way.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped organize, grill, serve, and make the BBQ happen, and an even bigger thank you to our hardworking UFI team.
