🌸 NEW & COMING SOON TO NJL! 🌸

Okay, Jelly Roll hoarders… this one’s for YOU! 😂🧵

We’re excited to announce that NJL will soon be bringing in the NEW Sew Very Easy Dresden Fan Template, created by the fabulous Laura Coia of Sew Very Easy!

And really… Laura came up with it, so you KNOW it’s going to be SEW VERY EASY to use! 😉✂️

The clever template lets you create gorgeous Dresden Fan blocks using 2½" fabric strips — including all those Jelly Rolls you’ve been lovingly “saving for the perfect project” in the back of your closet. 👀😂

Even better, Laura’s method pieces the fan AND the background together — no appliqué required! You can create whole, half or quarter Dresden blocks and have some serious fun playing with fabrics, scraps and precuts.

🎥 Want to see it in action?
Watch Laura demonstrate the Dresden Fan Template (side note: she can't give away ALL the instructions in this video, but you'll get the idea on how it works so when you get it in your hands, you'll see how it goes together).

🏪 SHOP OWNERS: Want to make sure you get some? Leave a comment below if you’d like a call back to reserve yours today! We’ll get them out to you as soon as they arrive — expected in just a few weeks.

🧵 QUILTERS & CONSUMERS: Want one for yourself? Tag your favourite quilt shop in the comments! We’ll contact them on your behalf and let them know you’re already waiting for one. 😁

Now the only question is… which Jelly Roll are you finally going to cut into? 😂✂️🌸

Ever wondered about Chenille? It's trending hot right now, but it's also hard to get, so I figured out how to make my own. I show you how in this 4 part tutorial. It's easier than you think! 🧵💕

🧵✨ Have you ever wanted to try CHENILLE but weren’t sure where to start? ✨🧵

Chenille is such a fun way to add softness, texture and dimension to your quilting and sewing projects—but there are a few things you need to know to get the results you’re looking for!

So I put together a 4-PART CHENILLE SERIES that takes you through the entire process—from understanding what chenille is, to choosing the right fabric, making your own chenille, and finally… seeing what happens when you WASH IT! 😍🧺

🧵 PART 1

Chenille 101: What Is It & What Does It Do? 🧵✨

What exactly IS chenille? How does it create that beautiful, fluffy texture? And what can you actually do with it?

Start here and learn the basics before moving on to the next steps!

🛍️ PART 2

Shopping for Chenille! 🛍️🧵 What Fabric Should You Choose?

This is an important one! Not every fabric will give you the same chenille results. Come shopping with me and learn what I look for when choosing fabric—and what you should consider before you start cutting.

✂️ PART 3

How to Make Chenille From Fabric! 🧵✂️ Step-by-Step Tutorial

Now it's time to MAKE IT! 🪡

I'll show you how I create chenille from fabric and take you through the process step-by-step so you can try it on your own project.

👉 Watch Part 3:

🧺 PART 4

Chenille After Washing! 😍🧵 1, 2 or 3 Layers? See the Difference!

And THIS is where things get really interesting! 👀

What does chenille actually look like after it goes through the washer and dryer? And does the number of fabric layers make a difference?

1, 2 or 3 layers… the results may surprise you! 😍

👉 Watch Part 4:

💡 I strongly recommend watching all 4 videos in order! Each video builds on the one before it, and by the end you'll understand the entire chenille process—from choosing your fabric to seeing the finished, washed result.

❤️ If you know a quilter or sewist who would love to learn how to make chenille, please SHARE this post with them!

And don't forget to SAVE this post so you can come back to the series when you're ready to give chenille a try. 🧵✂️

👇 Have you ever made chenille before? Tell me in the comments—I’d love to hear about your experience!

🧵 Happy quilting & creating!

A BIG thank you to Lori and Tom's Sewing Centre for having me! 🧵✂️💜 I had so much fun chatting about some of my favourite sewing notions — and squeezing in a little ruler-grip education too! Because better grip = fewer crooked cuts… and we can ALL appreciate that! 😉😂

⏩ Fast forward to 12:30 to catch the notions segment!

We start by getting up close and personal with the Clover Triple Clip Wonder Clips (yes, we’re getting serious about our clips! 😂), then move into the super-cool Bella Coat from ByAnnie.com and Patterns By Annie, along with all the fun accessories — aka Expansion Packs — that let you customize it even more.

Next up are the Grip & Stitch Quilting Disks, which are a personal favourite of mine ❤️, followed by two new Fabric Cafe books:
📚 Holly Jolly 5-Yard Quilts
📚 Panel Pizzazz

And finally, we wrap things up with a little education about rulers and GRIPPINESS.

Is “grippiness” even a word? 🤔🤣
Well… it is now!

Thanks again for having me — I had an absolute blast! 🧵✂️

Be sure to check your favorite fabric or sewing store near you for these and other fun notions!
