This customer's gibson has had the lower binding replaced. It was quite the feat to get the old one off and replace the Turtle binding. The high frets were filed down and the finger board freshed up. The photos show me buffing the finish. The customer (Dwight) is picking it up today.

Pino Suppa, Your guitar is almost done. All cracks and holes repaired. Old purfling and binding removed. Waiting for new binding to arrive from Stewmac in Ohio. After binding is installed I'll give it a new finish. You won't recognize the F-85 Gibson guitar.

Here are 3 photos of the beginning of my Grandson's new custom guitar. He will enjoy this guitar for many, many years to come. He chose the Copy of a Yamaha APX-1 which is an electric acoustic. This one will be made without the cut-out. The first photo shows one of the sides formed under high heat, You can make out the orange colored heating pad laying beside the contraption. The other two photos show the sides being mounted in the mold with the first end block glued on. More pics to come as I complete each phase.

This Sunday morning I managed to harvest 3 sets of guitar sides from the 2 logs I had milled this past week. There were a lot of cracks so much of what was milled is kindling for the fireplace.

So now that a propeller I was making is complete, I ordered some guitar accessories and will be starting 5 acoustic guitars in a couple of weeks when the parts arrive. Yesterday with my son-in-law we cut guitar backs of American Black Walnut. It was beautiful stuff. I had saved these two logs for at least 15 years. So the only thing I didn't do to these guitars is grow the wood. It's going to be a pleasure working with this walnut. It looks so good. I have at least 20 pairs to make backs with. It wasn't long enough to make the sides, so I will either buy some or use rose wood to make a hybrid guitar. the tops will be either Sitka spruce, or 40 year old cedar wood I have been saving for this occasion. Guitars will be "OM" suitable (if cedar) for soft country music. 3 will be allocated to family gifts. 2 will be sold.

Have been working on a customer's Epiphone. One broken neck has been repaired. I also removed the black urethane finish to expose the mohogany wood underneath. I refinished it with a clear urethane. It came out amazing and saved another guitar. If anyone has a broken guitar that needds attention give me a call. 905-843-9334.
