Earlier this year, due to an unfortunate situation with ITAC, we had to make public posts about not receiving payment for tourism events we had set up more than a year in advance. We lost several friends over those posts.
My husband thought it would be good to channel all of the time and energy related to the concerns with Indigenous funding into a project we are calling The Open Ledgers Project. We'd like to invite you to take a look at www.openledgersproject.ca and if you were impacted like we were, we'd love to publish your side with your name or anonymously. Indigenous country needs so much more accountability regarding public money given to organizations meant for the people. We hope this project can help.

The Open Ledgers Project follows public money meant for First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples, from federal and provincial funders to Indigenous governments and organizations, and asks of every dollar: where did it go?

Tonight the Calgary Chamber of Commerce gave us this award in recognition of our commitment to the community. We are very grateful to the Chamber and ATB for the recognition and consider it a great honour and privilege to be recognized. Unfortunately our fearless leader couldn't be with us tonight to celebrate, but our Calgary leadership team made it and they are the real MVPs. Thank you

NOTICE REGARDING ITAC-FUNDED PROGRAMS

Earlier this year, 49 Design advised its followers that payment for services rendered to the Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada ("ITAC") remained outstanding. Payment was subsequently received from Indigenous Tourism Alberta. Inquiries arising from that matter have since raised further questions regarding ITAC and certain provincial Indigenous tourism associations that are affiliated with ITAC and share overlapping leadership.

49 Design has since been contacted by an auditing firm retained by the Government of Canada to audit taxpayer-funded programs administered by ITAC. The auditors have requested that we collect contact information from individuals who were awarded grant funding through ITAC programs but did not receive those funds.

If this applies to you and you wish to be contacted, please email our legal department at [email protected]. Please note that the auditors' inquiry is limited to individuals who did not receive their grant funds.
