Here’s part 4, the final segment of making our Mini Mailbox purse!! A lot goes into every single product I make, and truly while these videos highlight many steps they still miss a bunch. Liking, commenting, sharing my work feels really “cool”, as if all these unseen hours do get noticed in a way.

Today’s video I assembled the main body of the purse, which is lined in a beautiful tangerine orange chèvre leather. Of course I spent countless hours ensuring the edge paint was nothing short of perfect.

Stamping our logo is made super easy with Maxita hot foil stamping machine from JunLin Leather (and they have excellent customer service).

A nice tip is when you have to line up and finally punch pieces together, see if you can pre punch or pre mark out your holes. That way when you have to finally punch them at awkward angles you don’t have to guess if you’re lined up straight (maybe that makes sense?).

Tomorrow I’ll share photos of the details on the purse and finally breakdown the subtle changes I made from the original design.

Really happy to have the new (2026) model of my first design (2021) “The Mini Mailbox” almost wrapped up!

Here I’m going through each part and piece before final assembly. Starting with the side panels I skive down the sides to make putting it on the bag easier, “train” the leather where I want it to bend and reduce overall seam thickness.

The inner lining is a stunning tangerine orange color from , here you see a short part of me skiving the edges all down by hand. Yes a bell skiver is easier, no I can’t afford one. Plus learning the skills and continually working on them is part of the reason I’ve gotten this far in my craft!

The body has a host of neat parts, from the snap closure with a hidden message on the back to the delicate strapping the feet sit on before being adorned to the body. I love these little details, especially the subtle edge creasing (not videoed).

Final part bear with me, is the top hat! I show off the internal structure to help with it forming the way I intend and behaving properly during use (open & closing of the flap). Punching holes with irons, saddle stitching, edge painting, the works!

I’ve had an amazing amount of people reach out with questions, orders and bespoke requests recently. I really appreciate all the support and am working through it all! I expect to have everyone taken care of and updated before Monday!

Some progress on this one from our last video. The handle on our Mini Mailbox purse is so simple yet fun, cute, I’m not sure how to describe it but wow… I think it looks great! What are your thoughts on it?

No audio of me walking you through what I’m doing, the natural audio just sounds so good. Odd fact, when I work and record for socials I usually spend the day in silence. And I too get to enjoy the sounds, but as they happen.

Using beautiful chèvre leather from of course. Thread is from along with edge paint that you see me mix up. You’ll also see a non-stretch lining (black) on the underside of the top flap. This helps reduce any stretch from holding the handle during constant use. That’s from RM too!

Wrapping up the flap of the purse today, onto the body and we’ll be back tomorrow to show you every piece before we put it all together!

Making leather goods requires so many different skill sets. One that kind of goes against logic is majoring in the minors. Making a big deal out of the small stuff that on the surface seems so inconsequential. While tiny and mainly functional, these strap attachments breathe life into an otherwise flat surface on a purse or bag. A chance to show off skill in a small window.

What you’re seeing here is the me giving the small/minor parts of this purse just as much attention as I do the design aspect. Edge creasing, painting, stitching and thoughtful preparation go into getting these right.

Ironically without making these I couldn’t start a single other part of this bag. Come back tomorrow so I can show you what color I chose for the lining, any guesses??

Leather is Chèvre from , they produce some of the highest quality goat hides in the world. These stunning colors were made to be paired up and the thread from is a near perfect match to the leather.

If you read this far I just want to thank all of you, anyone who’s liked, watched, shared, commented and more. It’s really cool to visualize what showing my work off to a room of 40k+ people would look like. Social media is really cool that way.

Finally done with this one. Not videoed are the endless hours of sanding, polishing, and painting to go from rough and ugly to a mirror shine. I think they stand up to the best of the best.

Edge paint is one of those things that if it isn’t perfect it’ll keep you up at night (or at least it does for me). Using only sandpaper, edge paint and tokonole (helps visualize low spots) I was able to achieve these edges. No creasing irons or special tools. I will now be able to sleep tonight.
